The ATD plot below shows the latest lightning strikes across the United Kingdom as detected by the UK Met Office's ATD (Arrival Time Difference) network.
A collection of lightning detectors across Europe, are able to locate the position of lightning strikes across the UK by producing a series of co-ordinates which are then triangluated and plotted on a Mercator projection map of the country. The plotted strikes are then colour-coded based on how long ago they were detected by the network. The plot shows lightning strikes for the last 24 hours.
