With the Potential for another snow event and the ongoing cold spell ongoing for most i thought i would create this thread so we can continue discussion and report any developments in the run up to Thursday/Friday possible snow event maybe some of you more experienced members who understand the charts can have a look see what you think could happen later this week

Again like last week there is a large degree of uncertainty and the models do not agree at this time also.
The UKMO model says the mild air will win out this weekend but snowfall (if any) will be very short lived.

Lol its like de ja vu when we were all talking bout last weekends snow event it started of with something like your very words Thunderstorm, there is still time for many changes lol my local forecaster said on twitter earlier that very very cold air is still flooding in from europe (germany/holland way) which means the rain could turn to snow but i like many value everyones input so if you have any further updates in next few days please let us know lol personally i think this cold air could stick around for a while yet lol but its just a hunch i have lol

I was wondering why there was no snow in the forecasts, since it appeared that the situation this week was similar to last, i.e. with cold air over the East of the U.K.
and warm air coming in from the West. If anything, it is colder this week than last week.
I now see that there is talk of a snow event on Thursday although there are no warnings issued yet by the M.O. and it appears that most of any
snow will miss the N.E. again.

Ah, there is a yellow warning now, although it doesn't extend as far north as here :-(

It looks as though temps are going to continue to be around freezing but the snow may not reach this far into Kent.

Until Yesterday it looked dry for this week here however out of the blue a significant snow event looks likely again across the Midlands especially the Central and West Midlands with models pushing things over this way compared to the East to begin with. Could still change but 5-10cm likely tomorrow night into Friday afternoon.

Dewpoint of -1.6c and rain. Uppers are too warm though its snowing just East of Birmingham so perhaps not long till we see something.

The dewpoint is -0.1c here but we are also having rain, though very light.
They still forecast it to turn to snow here around 9pm tonight.

There were "hints" of more wintery weather next week on some of the BBC t.v. forecasts yesterday, but it looks much milder for me according to Netweather,
although possibly some snow and colder from around Sunday the 19th?

It looks like a NW/SE split of cold air with the further N and NW you go it gets milder and this set up looks like continuing on and off for most of the rest of this month.
