Its so confusing at the moment some saying snow n ice in the next coming week some saying its gonna be milder i dont think they have a sodding clue to be honest when forecasters get like that best thing to do its look out your window when you want to know what forecast is. any of the charts indicating snow again soon? i agree thunderstorm this cold is in for the long run i think i may shift east a bit then west a bit the east a bit the west a bit but it aint gonna go far if you know what i mean lol

Yes Liam, we may as well say spring is in battle with winter now.
As in the last couple of weeks the forecasters have had a nightmare trying to accurately forecast if the cold air will stay or the mild air will win, if the precipitation will fall as rain, freezing rain, hail, sleet or snow.
You name it we have had all of it the last few weeks.
Don't blame any forecasters if things don't go to plan, this period is a real challenge on everyone who is interested or paid to give forecasts.
    Even i got it wrong..

A milder second half to February looks likely now though nothing too mild with the chance of further cold a real possibility. Soon however, Spring will be kicking in though Snow chances do extend to April dont forget!

Meanwhile, very very cold in the East tonight. Currently -12c at Marham!

Not sure where you got that figure from?

The Met Office says last nights coldest was Holbeach in Lincolnshire who recorded -15.6c which was the coldest night anywhere in the UK this winter and the coldest night since Boxing day in 2010

A brief heavy snow shower here this morning adding 1cm to laying snow. Last flurry before the thaw?

Yep, a much more average week ahead. Cloudy, mostly dry and temperatures around the seasonal average, perhaps even slightly higher. Im begining to get in the phase where im ready for Spring and Summer now. :)

Because the cold spell finished on Sunday and it has been much milder since Monday i have renamed this thread 5th - 12th.
I will create a new thread for the discussion of the next cold snap starting on Saturday in the North, but it is only expected to last until Monday 20th!
I will move all the posts here since Sunday to that thread.
