It hasn't even touched them! It remained over the water the whole time! I wish people would get their facts right, it's very frustrating as a meteorologist.

Attached is her position at 0z, still no defined cold front.

I don't know if he had associated it with hurricane Irene or another one.
I thought I heard some reports that one was going to hit the southern states after Irene, but I can't see any sign of it now.
    Was that Maria?
I don't know if it is just my imagination, but the BBC seem to be getting worse on factual accuracy in general recently.

I've heard a news report on the radio reporting chaos on the roads due to the Hurricane :icon_eek: Their words not mine !

Yes good point Dan, its dropped off since then with a low of 992.9mb at around 07.00 rising slowly again and currently 994.2mb.

That would be Tropical Storm Lee last week which gave a lot of rain to places like Louisiana etc but has since dissipated...

    Ah yes, I forgot Lee.
I think that might have been the one which Humphrys was confusing Katia with.

Indeed they are Doc, the full set of daily 12z maps spanning back to 8 Feb 2010 are available here: http://www.concretew...uk/chartviewer/

They are made in conjunction with, as Neil says, University of East Anglia's student newspaper Concrete, which I provide the 2-week forecast for :)

    Thanks Doc :)

Attached is an animation of Katia's track across the Atlantic over the past few days taken from every ASXX issued by the Met Office until midday today. Watch how she engulfs/merges with the Low that's over as on Sunday (named 'Frank' by the Germans).
