    Required linkback

Joining the UKWN allows you permission to add the UKWN chart to your website. Being a part of the network, we hope our member stations spread the word and to do this we would expect you to carry a link back to UKWN in some way, shape or form. To assist you in making your link back to http://www.metserv.info/pages/ukwn/ we have created a selection of images for you to use.

My sincere thanks go to Scotweather and "Budgie" for the design and permission to use.

Here is another, unauthorised alteration of an earlier version.

It's a members version, and do not forget to link it back.

BTW, what address would yu like the link to?

As a complete novice could someone tell me how I put one of the logos on my web page and make it a link back?

    Re: Required link back

    sure,

save the image to your desktop , then upload it to your root folder on your website via FTP

you would then use something like this

    Code:
    <a title="United Kingdom Weather Network" href="http://www.ukweathernetwork.co.uk" target="_blank">[img]http://yourwebsite.com/imagename.gif[/img]</img></a>

    Re: Required linkback

This is how I do it, it is purly the body, and edidited to remove other links.

    Code:

    <a href=Http.//[URL="http://www.ukweathernetwork.co.uk"]www.ukweathernetwork.co.uk[/URL] target="_blank">[img]UKWN_logo3_100.png[/img]</a></font></p>

The "src="UKWN_logo3_100.png" " is the actual png or picture, (it can be a JPG GIF whatever, mine happens to be a png as I could not be bothered changing from the download and saw no reason to do so) file your are displaying.

The first part <a href="http://www.midlandsweather.org.uk/" target="_blank"> is the link, in this case it will open the page in a new window. The link is that you have made the image a button, and when pressed it will open that page in this case in a seperate window.

If you have it, rather than writing from scratch, Microsofts Frontpage is not that bad, there are many, many other better HTML writers about. The best I have found is NoteTab, you have to write it yourself, but if you are not sure youcan import a page created by Frontpage, and edit to suit.

If you wish realy good dinamic displays try Flash. I am experimenting with incorporating my weather site into flash. Do not rush nothigh flash is there; yet.

    Hope this helps you.

    Take care.

    Re: Required linkback

Just for ease, you may wish to use the official URL which is
    Code:
    www.ukweathernetwork.co.uk
    or the direct link to
    Code:
    http://www.metserv.info/pages/ukwn/

    Re: Required linkback

OK, my last reply appears to have got lost in the ether - hope which ever Universe pick it up can make sence of it.

Well that link took a long time arriving!

    Thanks for that post Grant.

At least we now have a address for a direct link, rather than going through The Midlands.

The Midlands is a great forum and web site, but if you wish UK, you required the direct link.

I may have screwed up my last post as I tried to change the link.

    Thanks.
